Following attending a BCGBA Welfare course on Saturday I have a lot more information available and will be working on this later in the week.
Role of a Safeguarding / Welfare Officer
Working with others within the Club to create a positive , child centered environment within sport.
Play a lead role in developing and establishing the clubs approach to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults. (hereafter applies where children mentioned).
Assist the club to fulfill its responsibilities to safeguard children at club level.
Act as the first point of contact for staff, volunteers, parents, children and young people where concerns about childrens welfare, poor practice or abuse are identified.
Act as the first point of contact with the lead safeguarding officer (County Welfare Officer)
Implement the organisation's reporting and recording procedures.
Maintain contact details for the local children's socila care department, the police and local safeguarding children board. (A document will follow with this information to all clubs)
Promote the organisation's best practice guidane/ code of conduct within the club (see SCBA Handbook) and Bowls development Alliance website.
Sit on club's management committee. Ensure adherence to organisation's safegurading children training. Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained. Promote anti-discriminatory practice.
