Following on from the News in Football we need to make sure that clubs take the issue of Welfare seriously. Each Club should be looking to appoint a Welfare and Safeguarding Officer. The role is to act as a club support for Children and Vulnerable Adults. We can now arrange for Level 2 Welfare Courses to be run locally and I can arrange for a DBS Certificate to be completed for each club officer.
Once I have enough to run a coures locally then I will set one up. If an officer is in place in your club please can they let me know and if a DBS is needed so that I can arrange to get one done asap.
I can currently book places on a level 2 course in February in Northwich, but places are limited and it may be easier for most to attend locally.

I should mention that the DBS is free of charge for Welfare Officers, Coaches, Referees. If you have not had a new one in 2016 via the County or hold valid one from elsewhere a new one will need to be completed before the season starts in 2017. The form only takes about 5 mins to complete if you have the right documentation handy to do the ID check.
